Instructions & Information
Welcome again to Riga’s 4th Santas Fun Run & Walk organised by Rotary Club Riga International in aid of Martinas Fond and RMHC Latvija’s Care Mobile project. We will have many Santas plus helpers running and walking through the streets of Riga for a great charity.
The following notes are provided for your guidance to ensure the smooth running of the event. Please read them carefully. If you have any questions or comments then please e-mail Santa's Elves at: info@santasfunrun.lv
SANTA SUIT COLLECTIONS
If you have not yet done so then please collect your Santa Suit between Dec 1 and Dec 10 from:

7.00 am to 11.00pm (on Dec 9, 7.00-17.00)
Simply hand in your confirmation e-mail voucher and money (if not pre paid) to collect your ‘one size fits all’ Santa Suit and your number plate. If unable to collect prior to the event, your Santa Suit can be collected from10-11.30 am on the day from start/finish area for extra donation of 2 Ls.
SUNDAY DECEMBER 11TH
The event is officially starting at 11.30 am (the race starts at 12.00 noon), don’t miss the start and arrive with plenty of time in advance!
Please ensure that you are dressed for winter weather. Santa always wears thermal underwear beneath his suit! Please pin the number on the Santa suit in the front.
The start/finish area will be clearly visible in the Doma Square marked by DHL vans. We will be setting up from approximately 8.00 am.
Please bring to Santas Elves (event administrators) a copy of your completed personal sponsorship form. This allows us to get a total of the amount of money that we have raised and need to collect after the event. Please remember to include your name and contact details on the sponsorship form.
Please write the nature of any medical conditions you may have, on the reverse of your number.
PARKING
Parking is very limited. Please use city car parks. There is no parking in or around the start/finish area. Please arrive in plenty of time.
NO CHANGING FACILITIES
Santas are advised to arrive dressed in their Santa suits as there are no covered changing facilities at the start.
This is not a secure area, bags left there should not contain valuables and can be left there entirely on your own risk. The organizers shall not be responsible for any loss or damage of your luggage.
TOILET FACILITIES
Male & Female public toilets are situated around the course in the old town.
THE ROUTE
The run/walk is approximately 3 kms and will start and finish at the Dome Square in the Old Town. The map of the route will be displayed on the web site : www.santasfunrun.lv.
The maximum distance for a run is 2 laps.
Please take care, the cobbles in the old town are uneven, members of the public will be watching and although it is a restricted traffic zone there will still be some cars in some parts of the route.
On the day of the event the route will be marked by marshals wearing yellow DHL jackets.
LOST CHILDREN
In the event of a child becoming lost, they should be taken to the Rotary organisers at the start/finish. They will be looked after by a member of Rotary staff who has been security cleared and kept safe and warm. Please note that lost children will not be released to a member of the public until the member of staff is satisfied that their identity is genuine. Please provide your kids with written information about your phone number and name in order to ease the process if a child gets lost.
SANTAS WITH PUSH CHAIRS, DOGS AND YOUNG CHILDREN
For reasons of safety entrants with push chairs, dogs or young children are advised to start the run at the back of the ‘pack’ to prevent accidents.
AT THE FINISH

When finishing the Santas Fun Run & Walk you will be awarded with an exclusive commemorative medal.

The marshals will not measure the time of runners, so please measure your own time if you wish.
SANTAS AFTER RUN PARTY
All Santa's are welcome to the famous afterparty ! We gather at either

the Donegans Pub on the corner Skjunu/Laipu street (50 meters from Dome Square) or
-
the Kiwi bar, next to St.Peter’s church (100 meters from Dome square) where there will be special "Santa Fun Run & Walk" offers for adults and kids. These venues will donate 50 % of the income to charity ! See you there !
SPONSORSHIP MONEY
Santas need to find personal sponsors e.g. friends, family who are willing to sponsor them a few lats for a worthwhile charity and the fun of knowing they will run or walk through Riga dressed as Santa Claus.
Please collect and deposit your sponsorship monies in the account of Rotary before January 15th 2010.
